Practical ILS & PILS CPR Training and Medical Emergency Management for Dental Teams

Equip your dental practice with hands-on skills in adult and paediatric resuscitation, plus the recognition and management of common medical emergencies and emergency medications.

Course programme  

  • 4 - 5 hour, scenario-driven session combining theory and practical drills

  • Adult and paediatric Immediate Life Support (ILS & PILS) algorithms

  • AED use for adults, children and pregnant patients

  • Airway management: adjuncts, i-gels, bag-valve-mask and suction techniques

  • Oxygen therapy and pulse oximetry

  • Blood pressure and capillary blood glucose measurement

  • Recognition and treatment of:

    • Asthma attacks

    • Anaphylaxis

    • Cardiac emergencies

    • Epileptic seizures

    • Hypoglycaemia

    • Syncope

    • Choking (adult, child, pregnancy)

  • Team-based emergency scenarios focusing on leadership and communication

  • In-depth practice of intramuscular drug administration

 

Emergency Recognition & Management asthma, anaphylaxis, cardiac events, seizures, hypoglycaemia, syncope, choking scenarios.

Team-Based Scenarios Integrated drills on role allocation, closed-loop communication, debrief techniques

Emergency drug administration IM injections, dose calculations, drug storage and safety.

Accreditation & Certification

This course is CPD verifiable (5 points). Certificates of attendance will be issued in line with:

  • GDC enhanced CPD requirements

  • UK Resuscitation Council Adult & Paediatric Immediate Life Support guidelines

 

The Royal College of Surgeons (Conscious Sedation)

Practitioners must be able to provide age-appropriate immediate life support as defined by the main elements of the Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS and PILS training programmes. It is not essential to undertake a Resuscitation Council (UK) accredited ILS/PILS course. Alternative courses with equivalent content which are adapted to the needs of dental practice are acceptable: these might also include the management of common sedation, medical and dental emergencies. This training is CPD verifiable, 5 points and certificates of attendance will be supplied in-line with GDC enhanced CPD guidelines, UK Resuscitation guidelines and The Core Skills Training Framework benchmark for content of statutory and mandatory training courses.
